British special-purpose bombs ('Tallboy')
'Tallboy': First used in June 1944 and dropped to the extent of 854 bombs by the end of World War II (1939-45) in May 19045, this was a streamlined medium-capacity bomb designed to penetrate deep into the ground or target such as a U-boat pen before detonating, whereupon it caused most of its damage as a result of heave and blast.
