| | Control for Japanese Arm
The Japanese Experiment Module has an important component called the Exposed Experiment Facility. This is where materials, both metallic and biological, will be left outside, fully exposed to the harsh conditions of space. In order to place these exposed samples in position and move them about, and bring them inside for examination, the Japanese developed a robotic arm in conjunction with Canada. Known officially as the Remote Manipulator System, this will be controlled from inside the Japanese module. Further the Japanese arm is designed to be compatible with the other robotic systems on the space station. | |  |
