The date of the Party is chosen on the new Moon epoch (06/17/2004), so the Moon will not interfere the observations.
The following planets can be observed - Jupiter (night visibility), Venus - beginning of morning visibility, Mars and Saturn - problematic evening visibility. Mercury cannot be observed. Uranus and Neptune can be observed since midnight.
"Old Moon and Venus.ws5" (06/16/2004 morning visibility)
"New Moon and Saturn.ws5" (06/18/2004 evening visibility)
"New Moon and Mars.ws5" (06/19/2004 evening visibility)
Moon - Venus close approach is noticeable for their being in the same phase at the moment - about 0.1-0.05 (thin crescent). Venus appears in the lights of morning dawn for the first time after its historic passing the Sun disc on the 8th of June. Since this configuration by itself is rather difficult for observations (the altitude of Venus and Moon above the horizon is low), it may become a worthy task for the observers.

The observations of the first appearance of the new Moon (06/18-19/2004) can become a competitive action as well.
